I have started playing Rift again, while waiting for the release of The Old Republic. Downloading the 10GB client at the moment. What really surprised me when starting up the launcher again, is all the inbuilt social media functions that the developers have implemented into the game. Sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tumbler have been implemented, so you are able to post updates while in the game. YouTube has also been added so you can record game play in 10 min chunks, and when you have finished recording it will encode it and upload it for you, so you never have to leave the game. I look forward to playing with these features.

On a slightly different subject, I have setup and new YouTube account: xarthcouk, you shall be able to see all my new videos on that account.

Halo: ODST

Just bought this game today along with Gears of War 2. Been having rather a lot of fun with it but after a bit of looking online it seems that i only have one more level left to the game, this is why i love RPGs, they are SO MUCH LONGER!! It is still a fun game, and is interesting the see the Halo world from a different perspective.

Other than that i have not been doing anything, i have made a list of games i would like to try and finish before all the big releases that are coming. No idea if i will managed it as i have rather a lot of things but i shall give it a good go.

New Site and Other Information.

As you can see I have changed a few things around. djhunt.co.uk will still stay online, but I shall be using that as an online portfolio for my uni work and xarth.co.uk will be my personal/tech blog. I feel this will make things much cleaner and easier to read. I have moved all the posts over to this site, but the site is still in the stages of being finalized, so there may still be a lot of bugs and unfinished things.

Not posted in a while.

No idea why I have not posted in a while, just have not got round to it. Not been doing to much on my summer holidays, it was by birthday on the 17th of July and my sister flew me to Dublin for a few days which was very nice and I enjoyed it a lot. I have just bought a new domain name: xarth.co.uk, which is the online name I use at the moment. No idea what I shall do with it, but im sure I will think of something. Other than that I have quit WoW and have pre ordered the collectors edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic and I am really looking forward to it, I also got into the Battlefield 3 alpha but am unable to test it properly due to needing a more powerful computer, so I am looking at what it will cost to build a new one.

I am planning on updating this site a lot more, and shall start with updating the about me page and may have a look at changing the theme for one that suits this site better.

Set up new pics

So I have changed my setup at home rather a lot since the last picture, so here are a few new ones.

Here is my bed and a new piece of furniture I got from Ikea so i can store things in it and have placed my new 32″ 1080p tv on top.

This is a better look at it, as you can see I have got my TV at the top and I have put my 360 and PS3 in one of the boxes as well as my old Macbook which is all connected to my TV, soon I shall be connecting the speakers that I currently have on my PC to the TV and will be getting new speakers for my PC.

This is now my computer setup, changed the second monitor as I really did not want to have a 22″ screen as it was not needed, so I changed it to a 17″. You can also see my new chair that I also bought from Ikea, it is very very nice.

So at the moment the current upgrade I am looking at getting are new speakers for my PC, they will most likely be Audioengine A2s  and then moving the current ones I have on my PC over to my TV so I can obtain better sound quality from that. I then think that will be it for my setup at this time, cannot see anything else that i would need to buy.

Ding 85

I reached level 85 on my warlock a couple days ago and have been sorting him out with gear etc. I have decided to slack on playing a bit at the moment because I do not want to get burned out again and lose all joy in playing the game.

Warcraft Update

I have been playing lots of WoW over the past few days, and I am now level 84!!! after the long hard grind of Northrend, all the Cataclysm zone are a very nice relief (even if the amount of xp needed to level is not)

Anyway here is a pic of my warlock at night in Uldum.

Portal 2 Release Task

So Valve are due to release the high anticipated Portal 2 next week, but they have decided to let players be able to get the game earlier by doing certain tasks. Such as collecting potatoes in games and playing certain games. When I first heard of this which was a few days ago, I though that it was a but annoying that they where telling gamers to buy there games and play them in order to get the game released earlier. But then I looked at the website and saw that it was not Valves own games but 13 indie games, created by small independent game studios. So I came from disliking the idea to liking Valve even more because of them freely promoting fantastic games, now of  course I am assuming that Valve are getting something out of this other than free advertising, but I still think this a fantastic idea. One of the intresting things that have been said about this, is that if a different games company such as EA or Activision did a games launch very simalar to this, people would be in a uproar and dissing it, and people are only liking this time because Valve are the ones doing it.

I would first like to point out that I think that Valve are the only company that could do this due to the Steam platform they have created, which allows indie games to be promoted easily, I cannot see any other company being able to do that currently. The other thing I would like to point out is that i think people would be just as find if other companies did this, as long as they were not promoting their own games. Which is where the problems comes in of course, as am very sure that certain games companies would take every possibility to make gamers buy their games.

But still I love that Valve are supporting the small games studios as they always do, and I hope that they decide to do more games launches like this in the future (Episode 3 hint hint).

Home Computer Setup

PC SetupSince I have moved back from from university for the easter break, I have taken all my computers with me. Here is how they are  currently setup. My Xbox and PS3 are hidden behind the monitor on the right. I will be changing the setup at some point as I am currently looking at getting a 5.1 surround sound system, to replace my current speakers and a new Mic stand that will clip onto the desk so I am able to use my studio Mic. I am also looking for a dock that I can put my iPad in, so I will be able to use that easily while I am at my computer. I may just see if I can build a DIY dock that I have seen on the internet.
